administrative assistant ↯

There are always plenty of admin tasks that need to be completed behind the scenes. Whether it is creating waiver forms or information for new members, tracking attendance statistics and demographics, or compiling information for funding reports. If organization, attention to detail are your jam, we want you!

This position can be done remotely, and contact with the WABIY Staff will be conducted via email and telephone.

Meeting Facilitator? ↯

At the core of WABIY’s mission are our in person, peer-support gatherings. These are an opportunity for adults struggling with mental illness to come together and share in a safe and welcoming environment. The role of the Meeting Facilitator is to:

  • Open and setup the meeting space before people arrive (inc. preparing tea/coffee station);
  • Welcome new members and collect signed waivers
  • Control the general flow of the gathering (announcements, intros, sharing, breaks, etc.)
  • Clean-up of the office space
  • Lock the office

Note that this position will require individuals to take in-house facilitator training and will be required to attend a minimum of 5 meetings as a general member prior to leading a session. This position will be based at the WABIY gathering space (Timbre Workshop & Studios, 5420-82 Ave NW, Edmonton).

Assistant Meeting Facilitator? ↯

This position assists the main facilitator in general setup and meeting flow during our in-person, peer-support gatherings. They are responsible for ensuring the well-being of any member who leaves a meeting midway through and ensures that they are supported in the WABIY space. Post-gathering follow-ups may be necessary depending on individual circumstances and these will be discussed and coordinated with the main facilitator.

Note that this position will require individuals to take in-house facilitator training and will be required to attend 3 meetings as a general member prior to assisting a session. This position will be based at the WABIY gathering space (Timbre Workshop & Studios, 5420-82 Ave NW, Edmonton).

WABIY Wunners Walking Group Leader ↯

This position is responsible for facilitating our weekly walking group. This person will arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time and will conduct brief introductions before the walk. They will be responsible for planning a time-appropriate (50-min) route in the River Valley and an optional activity for the group to participate in (chalking sidewalks with messages of hope, leaving painted rocks, hand-written notes in the trails, etc.).

The Leader will post about the weekly walks in the WABIY Facebook group(s) informing members of any activities planned, and will conduct an attendance poll in advance. They will also be responsible for providing and collecting signed waivers from new members and forwarding them to WABIY staff after each walk.

This position will be based in Edmonton, and the start/finish point of the walk is at the bottom of the Royal Glenora Stairs.

WABIY Wunners Running Group Leader ↯

This position is responsible for facilitating our weekly running group. This person will arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time and will conduct brief introductions before the run. They will be responsible for planning a time-appropriate (45-min) route in the River Valley that is suitable for all levels of experience and fitness.

The Leader will post about the weekly runs (in collaboration with the Walk Leader) in the WABIY Facebook group(s) informing members of the anticipated route and any weather-related announcements. They will conduct an attendance poll in advance.

The Leader will remain at the back of the group and ensure the safety and whereabouts of everyone involved. The Leader will be responsible for providing and collecting signed waivers from new members and forwarding them to WABIY staff after each run.

This position will be based in Edmonton, and the start/finish point of the walk is at the bottom of the Royal Glenora Stairs.

Online Moderator ↯

This position will be responsible for monitoring the activity on the WABIY Facebook groups. They will edit/remove inappropriate posts and communicate with members to inform them of any guidelines that have been compromised in a way that is respectful and productive. They will respond to inbox messages and refer any questions/activity of importance to WABIY staff immediately. They will represent WABIY in a positive manner and encompass our values in all forms of communication with members.

This position can be based remotely.

Community Office Hours Coordinator ↯

This position involves being present at the WABIY gathering space (Timbre Workshop & Studios, 5420-82 Ave NW, Edmonton) during our community office hours (Fridays 10am - 4pm). This can be a split shift with other volunteers or a full shift depending on availability. The Community Office Hours are designed to create a safe work space for WABIY Members who attend regular gatherings to come and work in a welcoming environment - similar to a coffee shop work day vibe! The Coordinator will be responsible for opening and locking the WABIY office and ensuring the space are supervised throughout the day.

Community Event Planner ↯

This position will work in collaboration with the WABIY Staff and Board to design and plan community activities. These will range in scope from organizing simple crafting activities such as making positivity jars with members, to helping with the coordination of weekly/monthly events as requested by the Staff and Board. Responsibilities for this position will vary in terms of time commitment and nature of the role based on our calendar of activities and events.

This position will likely involve a combination of remote and on-site work.

Resources and Research Assistant ↯

This position will be responsible for ensuring our online ‘Resources’ section is comprehensive and up-to-date. It will involve compiling links to relevant mental health resources across Canada and providing information to our members. In addition, the position will be responsible for overseeing the contents of the WABIY Lending Library, a collection of text books available for loan by our members.

This position can be based remotely, but may require occasional on-site work related to the Lending Library.

Outreach Coordinator ↯

This position will work with the WABIY Staff and Board to forge relationships with various community groups and demographics related to WABIY’s mission and services. It will involve researching existing groups that could benefit from WABIY’s offerings, as well as establishing relationships with under-served and under-represented populations in the realm of access to mental health services.

This role will be largely administrative in nature and can be undertaken remotely. Note that there may be some occasional on-site expectations and meetings with WABIY Staff.
