6:30pm - 7:30pm
This is a weekly walking group with the sole aim of getting outside and moving our bodies with other humans (and dogs!). This is for anyone 18+ who is struggling with mental illness who wants nothing more than to connect with others and get active. There is a more informal feel to these gatherings and never any pressure to talk or share your struggles - we simply meet at the stairs and head out on a short evening walk. Feel free to bring your furry four-legged friend(s) along - they’re usually the star of the show!
We know it can be anxiety-provoking to show up to things like this, so we typically hang out at the stairs until 6:40pm before setting out to allow for people to build up the courage to get out of their cars and join the group.
7:30pm - 8:15pm
This is the same as the walking group, just a little faster! Open to all levels of fitness and experience, nobody gets left behind. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or have yet to purchase your first pair of running shoes, we’ve got you covered! The ‘leader’ ironically stays at the back of the group to ensure everyone gets back safely. Those who are speedier will take the same route, but will have designated stop-points to turn around and jog back to the last person before heading out again - this ensures that nobody is ever out and about by themselves. We currently keep the route under 5km.
FAQ: ‘I don’t think I can run for long, will I be able to keep up?’.
Answer: YES. You’ll be gently encouraged to push past your limiting beliefs (we all have them!), but whether you can run for five seconds or five hours, we don’t care! We make a point never to compare paces or distances, we simply celebrate your courage in getting out there and giving it a go! Still unsure? Shoot us a message on social media and we’ll answer any concerns you might have.
